Why would you want to use a SLOWER interface in the first place? As far as ports are concerned, TB should be able to work with everything (USB, FW etc.) anyway, provided the right adapters are used...
I said nothing about wanting to use a slower interface. That would be silly.
Do you think all future USB 3 peripherals will be compatible with TB via an adapter?
That would be great, but why come out with USB 3 on a Mac at all?
Or do you think Apple will skip a USB 3 port altogether?

Apple Store Refurbs.
A few days ago all the Mini refurbs disappeared from the Apple Store refurb list. After the Think Secret announcement, not only did they come back, but they added PPC models and a 1.66 Core Duo with 1GB RAM & 100GB HDD. Today, there is only one PPC model listed and that's it. Might be just coincidence, but that's a lot of activity.
Anyone know - Do current models usually disappear right before a speed bump and then reappear at a reduced price when new models are available?

Most of the posts in this thread are about the 23" screen. Yes, I think it will happen to allow the imac to play 1080i/1080p HD.
But, how about the processors? Apple needs to have a Core 2 (Conroe not Merom) inside the imac. The imac is not a conventionally size desktop (not as much room inside as a tower) but Apple can not continue to use a laptop processor in the imac. If they do, then how will the Conroe be used in Apple's line up? In a Mac tower? I don't think so. Surely, a 23" iMac could house the Conroe suitably?
So I would say that the 23" iMac would kill 2 birds - Conroe and HD for the home user. :)
Merom is 64 bit enabled, IIRC

But hopefully these are a better resolution than the current TV show on Itunes. It should be at least DVD quality, If not these price model will bomb IMHO.

Jobs receives a call during keynote and reaches into his pocket...
...audience errupts with joyful tears...
...pulls out iTunes compatible motorola phone....
...audience sighs....and cries....
....Steve gets another call 5 mintues later...
...pulls out iPhone
...geeks bumrush the stage and carry Steve off on their shoulders
Are you sure you don't work for Steve?

I've obviously never tried any of the fancy auto shifting modern cars.
My KIA has selectronic shifting, and it's fun to go "over there", now and then. ;)

My thoughts exactly!. As a owner of FCP 7 (and the rumord price drop for FCP X) How much will the upgrade cost? Price speculation time!
Don't know what the price will be but I'm nearly positive there will be no 'upgrade' price.
Apple seems to be moving to the app-store model where you pay less at first but then you pay the same for every upgrade.
iLife has done this for years and now Aperture is doing the same thing. Frankly, I prefer it to the old way.

You really are worried that Final Cut Pro will not be more complicated than iMovie??!
No, I'm worried that FCP could be dumbed down too much to properly do the job at hand.

My goodness...
I'm just hoping Apple continues to make a few machines that can do actual design and coding work.
As long as Apple needs people to build Apps for their touch screen devices, you will have a machine that can do design and coding. They will be the workhorses that support the consumer product line of handhelds like the ipod, iphone and ipad. Don't worry, the Mac is not going away. It might get a whole lot cooler with added features, but it's going to be capable of running Xcode for a long long time.

As reported by tonymacx86 (http://tonymacx86.blogspot.com/2011/03/native-graphics-acceleration-for-radeon.html), Apple's new Mac OS X 10.6.7 update for the 2011 MacBook Pro includes support for a number of AMD graphics cards not currently found in Apple's machines. While the development is certainly of interest to Hackintosh fans looking to build their own systems running Mac OS X, the inclusion of the new cards may provide some hints of graphics cards to be included in future Macs such as potential iMac and Mac Pro updates.Interestingly, the broad range of cards apparently fully supported under Mac OS X 10.6.7 is leading to speculation that Apple may be looking to support more off-the-shelf GPU options as opposed to the Mac-specific cards that have been used to date.

What's wrong with a MacBook and:
a) Pages
or
b) MS Word (yuck... but ymmv)
or
c) Framemaker in Boot Camp
?
Agreed, the world of word processing isn't overrun with great apps. Times change, and word processing just isn't sexy any more... even though there are plenty of theses and books and magazine articles still being written.
(I notice that MS are preparing to give away updates to Office 2007 - and Vista - to anyone that got Office pre-installed on their PC. Talk about abusing their monopoly... No struggling WP developer can hope to survive against those sort of tactics.)
With a bit of luck Pages 3.0 will be along next week. Hardly a keynote showstopper, but props to Apple for getting into that market at all. Pages is cute.
If you specifically need the long-doc and publishing features of Framemaker, then it's Windows time. Sad but true. Take it up with Adobe.
Its going to be a difficult decision.
The MB only has a 13.2 screen. I want that extra inch to the 14.1.
I dont like the idea of running Windows through OSX and Bootcamp. When I should only need one OS to operate a word processor.
Word isnt a good option for me.
I may just go with BootCamp, Windows, Adobe, but that means buying Windows, BootCamp, and Im concerned about conflicts.
Thanks for the other tips for the word processors.
Im going to wait and keep my options open, although I want something now.

The picture remains confused. We know that coalition military units are lobbing precision guided munitions at Gaddafi's air defense network as well as attacking targets of opportunity. But the rebels are not in contact with the rest of the world through any official channels, and media access is poor.
Gaddafi is looking for a stalemate in the short term.
Meanwhile, the BBC struggles with the concept of area versus length.
