thanks desertfox ! i I did apply before July 30, 2007 (recd. date for 485 is 7/17/07) which means that i do have to pay the fees for AP. I will go ahead and apply online.

I am in the same boat .I found a new job after my employer fired me ( Still in 1 month notice period) . Later he found another position and asking me to continue. He may not give me the 1 140 if i leave him

If you have MS Office Document Image Writer installed in your system then after editing ur PDF, you can print it to MDI and it will save it as an .mdi format. You can take a print out of it later at your convenience. Only issue is, it saves it as an image and you cannot edit an .mdi doc :o

Has anyone managed to withdraw money from TCS PF from Mumbai India?
If so, pls advise on the procedure for the same?

No forms would work because like a typical family owned blood sucker company, their PF is controlled by another TATA company and not the central govt. AND to get your hard earned money out of that another company, you need a clearance letter signed by some TCS HR personnel ..
You could see if the amount is worth going through the agony of talking to all BS..ing top brass in the company.. If it is, then make your heart of steel and go through it..
they would keep some money as their tip.. (maybe 20%) but give the remaining back to you..

my 140 was approved a week and a half back ..and i asked my attorney ..if my date was successfully ported..and he is refusing to divulge the information and telling me to contact my company..
1.) i know 140 is a employers prerogative and all that jazz..but should i not get a copy..or at least some basic information?
2.) Am i wrong is even asking for that information?

I didn't quiet get from your message whether the "08xxxxxxx" has an "A" preceding it. In all probabilty it should.
If it indeed has an "A". It is a A# so you might as well forget about deducing on a visa # being assigned based on the A# on the FP :)

Not sure about the Mexico consulate, but you will most probably face problems if you go to Chennai consulate.In case if you decided to take chance and go to Mexico, make sure that you have valid F1 visa to come back to USA. Otherwise you have to stay in Mexico :-)

In the draft, the countrywise cap is set to 10% of the quota. That's still a big stumbling block for Chinese and Indians.
We should push for getting rid of this countrywise cap.
Another, just a thought. Once they increase the cap and all those changes, so many people will be eligible and apply for 140 & 485. They will become eligible for EAD and AC21. The USCIS will drown in I140 and I485 applications and recurring appls for EADs resulting in huge administrative delays. So the spead gained by legislative action will get lost by backlog due to administrative actions. Classic case of give by one hand and take away by another.
