I work in Health Insurance domain so if you need help in understanding the technical terms, may be I can help.
Kaiser Permanente mght be a good option if you are buying at individual level. I am not sure if they provide services in TN but if they do, then I would go for it. It is a HMO plan but KP hospitals provide reasonably good services at reasonable price in California.

The vermont service center says 2 months for h1b extensions, mine has been pending for 75 days, so i called the uscis today and guess what they told me, the processing times have been updated on teh web site but it is very difficult for us to follow them, i would suggest you wait for 90 days and see if there is any change in your online status if not call me back.
Then why do these people keep updating monthly processing dates if they cannot stick to their words.
I believe the processing times are just a gimmick to show progress to press....:mad:

Did u take Infopass appt. for EAD & AP together...? On the infopass form once fill only one receipt # right..?? My application was recd. by USCIS on 7/7...90 days is from recd. date...isn't it..? and not Notice date.? 90 days will be up for me by tomorrow 11/5..I still have no EAD & AP..! Can i take EAD & AP appt. together on same day for Infopass.? Or should i call USCIS reg. my case...Thanks..!!
There is no option in infopass to take both ead and AP. I took the one for interim-EAD , but like I mentioned above, this tuesday it will be 2 weeks after infopass and still no EAD for me, wonder how AP got approved without EAD , does it happen like this ?

Submit evidence that the alien obtained the required bachelors of computer science before September 14 2005. Evidence of education must be in the form of an official record showing the dates of attendance, area of concentration of study, and the date of degree award, if any.

As per my understanding, extension will be given if and only if :
Either Labor is pending for more than 365 days or Labor and I-140 is approved.
If Labor is pending for more than 365 days, one year extension is approved and if Labor and I-140 is approved, three year extension is approved.

I am on 7th year of my H1 and my I-140 is pending. Since my current H1 is about to expire, I need to file for my 8th year of H1 extension. Do you think there could be some problem in getting my 8th year extension since my labor is approved and I-140 is pending. hello,
dmv need USCIS issued photo identification in order to renew or change your DL. first they check if you have a valid visa with photo, if not they ask for valid EAD. if you don't have these then you have to show the approval notice. but the biggest problem with this is it take 3 to 5 months to process DL. hope this help.

As it stands today, our immigration system is nothing more than a blueprint for exploitation of both foreign and native-born workers. Overhaul of our nation's broken immigration laws is long overdue.
We believe that America deserves a more just and democratic immigration system that protects the interests of ALL workers within our borders-immigrants and U.S.-born workers alike.
It's a tragedy that instead of advocating for permanent relief to the millions of undocumented workers already in this country, paying taxes and contributing to their communities, our nation's leaders continue to push for the same old hollow policies that if enacted will only drive immigrants further into the shadows of American society while allowing employers to depress labor protections and standards for ALL workers within our borders.
Instead of comprehensive reform, many of our leaders continue to look to outdated temporary guestworker programs as a cure-all solution. Real immigration reform cannot and should not be designed primarily to enlarge guestworker programs that have served only to provide greedy employers with a steady stream of vulnerable, indentured workers they may exploit for commercial gain.
This week AFL-CIO unions have voted on a landmark resolution that breaks away from this oppressive guestworker mold and offers a more just and viable solution that will benefit all workers. To be effective, comprehensive immigration reform must include three key, interdependent goals: 1) reform proposals MUST provide a clear and well-defined path to permanent residency for those workers already here and contributing to their communities 2) our laws must include uniform enforcement of workplace standards to ensure a more just and level playing field and 3) to achieve a blanket standard of workplace right, we MUST reject outdated guestworker constructs that by their very nature harm the interests of foreign and U.S born workers alike.
The horrific abuses suffered by workers in the first such program, the post -World War II bracero program, are well documented and indisputable. Yr employer is correct. You can't apply for SSN before OCT 1st as yr H1 starts from OCT 1st. When you go to SSN office, they look at yr current i-94 to find out yr current immigrant status (H1/H4/L1,etc) and if you current i-94 is for H4 then they won't allow you to apply for SSN. I had same exp for my wife. We applied on 2nd Oct in VA.

Also i read IV forums and saw attorneys recommend filing to the 485 pending center.
So that is why i posted this question to the attorneys.

She will need to complete a 3 year waiver in medically underserved area or a 2 year home return before you can file for her adjustment of status(I-485).
We had faced a similar situation 3 years back and decided to go ahead with it since looking at the backlogs I am assuming with my PD of 2007 I am still way off from getting my GC.
So now my wife is completing her residency in June this year and has a waiver job lined up. Once/ If dates become current I will file for her I-485 after the waiver is complete.
