reebzor: Given that I can't have wiring running around to the speakers (that need to be on opposite ends of the room), unfortunately this won't work.

waw74: It sounds like airplay speakers would be the best bet for ease of setup (in theory). The ihome option looks really nice - what a bummer they aren't available yet. Looks like the only AirPlay speaker available now is the Zeppelin Air ($600 apiece, so $1200 for a pair...wow). I'm a bit confused why it has a dock though, since it seems the reason for buying one would be to use airplay, but maybe I am missing the point.

Sounds like Airport Express would be the least expensive option. I didn't know I can make an Express a "base" without having internet access. So to make sure i understand ... I would buy 2 Airport Expresses. I would connect my MBP to one AirPort Express (no internet connection needed), and then have the AirPort Express create a wireless network, which I could then connect the second AirPort Express to using my MBP. The just plug speakers in the Expresses on opposite sides of the room, and I'll be good to go, correct?

    Thanks-

    Hi all,

I invested in a D5000 about a year and a half ago to begin a new hobby. I was hoping to get opinions on if it would be worth it to try to make photography more than a hobby for me. I prefer nature, but would be willing to go for events maybe...I don't want to do portraits.

I've inserted some of my work from a photo camp below. Any advice/criticism would be greatly appreciated :-).

How big do you wanna go?

(If you can deal with the ugly :p) the Dell 2005 FPW may be the way to go. 20" LCD.
It's around $500, so you could get your dual-monitor on, or get one for yourself and one for me, too. :)

ok - I went thru and approved a whole slew of songs that were marked as duplicates (same album) and so they should be in the system. When I get more time this weekend, I'll run thru and make sure I didn't miss any.

Sorry about that - time kinda got away from me :)

Jeff Goldblum brought down an entire alien fleet with less than 64GB.....

Haha, luckily it wasn't independence day for him, since using a windows XP machine (I would presume) would cause a destruction of an alien mothership, and besides, how can you upload a virus to a ship the size of Jupiter in literally 60 seconds? You would need quantum-core infinite RAM with turbo powered processors, enough to power the sun.

G.Skill without a doubt. Used 2-4GB Sticks in my 2011 17 inch MBP, and this 4GB kit of 2x2GB will work fine for your need, and only $41.99 shipped: http://www.newegg.com/Product/Product.aspx?Item=N82E16820231213

Just an FYI, the 2008 MacBook (Late Aluminum Unibody I assume) will only read RAM as 1067 MHz, not 1333 MHz. You can put 1333 in them, but they will just under-clock them to 1067.

As for pricing considerations, refurb. 3rd gens (4gb) start at $99 in the apple store, ipod2sell suggests $80. That is, of course, without the engraving to consider. I would, however, reemphasize that aside from the engraving, the iPod is in pristine condition.

    Hi all,
Just incase anyone stumbles across this thread when they are having similar issues I wanted to post an update.

It sounds so simple but I think my wake issues may have actually just been down to weak batteries in my keyboard.

After 10.6.7 some people were reporting that they were getting the wrong battery life metering for wireless devices. Some people had their power levels stuck at 100% even though the batteries had previously been showing 50% depletion before updating to 10.6.7

My keyboard was showing 46% yesterday but I thought to eliminate the possibility of the mac pro waking due to a lost keyboard connection due to weak batteries, I changed them out for fresh batteries.

My mac went to sleep last night and slept the whole night, until I woke it this morning.

I'll try it again later but I'm pretty certain that's all it was.

Oh well, at least I've got a freshly installed OS and clean running machine now, even though all I actually needed to do was swap some batteries! :)

The best routers from what I've read seem to be from Netgear and Linksys.

I have the WGT624 revision 2, and it works pretty well with my Powerbook. Netgear also upgrades the firmware, but not as much as Linksys. The 624 has some extra features over the cheaper Netgear routers and so that is why I went with it. It is a little tricky to setup all the security features, but after a couple of tries you should be able to figure it out.

Was it turned off when you spilt it? I spilt water onto my MBP and nothing happened, luckily it was turned off (the battery was dead so it entered deep sleep mode).
it was on at the time and die right after the spill and after a few days i decided the alcohol solution.
The motherboard was cover in wine and i actually use an electric toothbrush to clean it.

The 'sploit works on OS 10.1.5 and 10.2.6. The length of the password is important. The password must be longer than 7 characters for it to work.

Somebody out there on a game specific programming forum should be able to answer this.

Google tells me Space Invaders came out in 1978, which means there are probably many many people who have done this over the years. While off the top of my head, I can think of a handful (and probably a bit hacky) ways of doing this, I wouldn't be surprised if there was a fairly quick and simple method of accomplishing this.

As you are using Cocos2d, probably the easiest way in my brain would be to just detect where your "bullet" sprite hits your barrier sprite. Then, using the bitmasking mentioned above, you would replace the collided/destroyed piece of your barrier with the background.

    Edit:

    Found something that outlines this:

    You won't believe this.

It was a bad wireless card.

Using brilliant deductive reasoning I finally thought, "this is either a badly seated Airport card, or just a downright bad card."

After unplugging/replugging the card in numerous times (disconnecting/connecting the little plug each time), just to be sure it was in fact seated well (which I'd done once before last week), I finally opened up my other Mac laptop (which uses the same identical card) and put it into this new iBook.

    Damn. Lightening fast. I"M UP.

Just to check, I then plugged in this supposedly broken Airport card into my PowerBook, and sure enough: no signal. The card really is bad.

Why did the iBook work great while in the Apple Store in Cherry Creek? This is what initially had me think that it could not be a hardware problem. Then I realized: perhaps a Mac can get barely pick up a wireless signal even without the Airport card. Either that, or the card kinda/sorta/sometimes would work. And, I'll bet the signal strength in the Apple store was super strong, and got through even a semi-busted airport card.

That's the first time a problem has actually been the darn hardware in all my 14 years of Mac'ing. I will never again discount physical matter as the potential source of the glitch.

Criminy. I think I spend about 30-40 solid hours trying to figure this one out.

    Yaaaaahoooooooooooooooooooooooooo.
