I wonder if anyone payed 1.29 for revolution number nine.
If so, I'm sure it was only by accident. :p
Casual Beatles fans won't know that several of the big hits -- like that ripping version of "Revolution" -- were only originally released as singles, then on the odd compilation album (Hey Jude, then later on the Blue Album, and finally Past Masters).

Love SJ's comment about sharing earbuds being preferable to sharing music Zune-WiFi-style. He's good.
But you know Apple's got a WiFi iPod in the works, and then the statement on WiFi will be that it's "indispensable." Love that guy.

I've got a bad feeling about this.
Anyone else think that this may be a reference to the rumored ulta-portable design that is essentially a thin clinet, wiht all of the apps/storage handleed over the internet with dotmac/google apps.
It would boil the new machine down to a large iphone with a keyboard. While such an approach is OK for the BB or iPhone, I would hate to have it on a laptop.
The other expanations are for more pallatable.

Here we go with the "You said this, so you must be this..." stereotype...
I know guys where even though they are the "bread winner" or contribute greatly to the funds, they have to approve EVERYTHING through the Wife - whereas the Wife can spend as she pleases....
Happy Wife, Happy Life...
Not into that type of relationship.
That "type" of relationship? You mean that exact description. Because either A) you're not married, or B) have a very similar scenario with only slight difference. The differences being where you pass judgement, but remain altogether similar.

and waste data? i dont know...how useful is this...really?
You'd be able to update over Wifi too, of course.
others may find it useful, but why would one need to update on the go?
If you are away from your Mac that you sync with for an extended period of time.
I can't wait for this. Call me lazy, but I'm two small updates behind because I can't be bothered to sync my iPhone for fixes that don't affect me.
I'm hoping for wireless syncing with iTunes as well. The less I have to connect via a cable, the better.

Except China is like a plague of locusts consuming raw materials. All of the coal, petroleum, steel, concrete, etc. they are importing is coming from somewhere else, and procuring these things has negative environmental impact for where theyre sourced.
Because before China, no other country in the world with factories EVER sourced raw materials from other countries.
If countries in Africa, the Middle East, and elsewhere weren't mining, growing, and extracting materials for factories in China, they'd be sourcing materials for factories in India, America, Europe, South Asia, Japan, Korea, or elsewhere. Unfortunately these countries tend to have weak or corrupt governments that don't care about environmental degradation or can't do anything meaningful about it.
Maybe countries with factories that source raw materials from other countries have a responsibility to help those other countries develop mechanisms to protect their environment. But I've yet to see this happen on a meaningful scale anywhere.

It'll just have a Retina Display with graphics higher than the current 4870 and faster hardware. It's only 22" because it doesn't need to be big at such pixel density. If you remove it's aluminum stand, it'll be light enough to be tolerable for your lap but it's gonna' be too hot.
The whole screen can't be a big iPad that you put on a low table with virtual keyboard and pressure sensitivity (I expect the iPad to have Retina Display with pressure sensitivity and front camera) because that would be too tiring and the smudges are gonna' ruin photo editing sessions because nowadays you also use an iMac for professional jobs.
The current iMac are already multi-touch with the multi-touch mouse. I just think it's the Retina display and the wireless keyboard will have iOS capabilities for things like Dashboard which is rarely used coz' it gets in the way of the your work.
Gbu.

Mikael for the majority of shots (first one with optional glass), then another Ikea desk that I don't know (I didn't buy that one).

apple supports products that come from anywhere so long as it is within warranty. So i don't care how grimy the store is, so long as its legal and the same price, I'll buy it from a grocery store next to the diet coke and raisins. I'll buy it from outback if they sell them. It's all the same. You could even buy them from a guy named dan on craigslist and they'll still support it; so...... awesome.

Whatever happens, it's prudent for Mac users to keep their data in a form that is platform independent, so that you can switch to other systems if Apple gets carried away with their genius tag, and stops making machines we need to get life's work done.
All my word processing files can be shipped to a Windows machine. All my email is now in IMAP format, so I am not beholden to any one software. I refuse to create data in a format that is locked into Apple, or Microsoft, or any one company. I need data portability.
So if Apple goes off the deep end, it won't make a difference to me. I'll switch away from Apple.

I hope they provide some opportunity of preventing 3g based updating. As not everyone in the world will be using their iPhones through the 'approved' provider. I know I dont, and a normaly Apple 700meg update will absolutely slaughter my bill (70$ worth of data charges)

Why not 4GB of RAM?
The system uses some of the 4 GiB of physical address space to map I/O busses and devices.
For example, that 256 MiB of VRAM on the graphics card appears in the physical address space -- which means that only 3.75 GiB is available for real memory. PCIe busses take more, as well as network and other needs. PCI Express reserves a lot of memory for I/O space.
A with a 32-bit chipset the OS has to "ignore" any real memory that's usurped by I/O space reserved addressing. A 64-bit chipset (with a 64-bit OS) doesn't have that problem.
I have a 4 GiB Dell D620, but Windows and Linux only see about 3.1 GiB of that due to the I/O space issues. I expect that OSX86 has the same restrictions - since it's a hardware issue.
IBM only offers 3 GiB configs of the same Yonah/Napa combination - apparently to avoid "where's the rest of my memory" complaints. It looks like Apple is copying IBM's approach.
_____________________
The ProMac has a 64-bit capable chipset, so the memory extensions that were used for the PowerMac G5 can be used to avoid this issue.
The Napa chipset is 32-bit - Santa Rosa will be 64-bit.

Whine whine whine. That clearly makes Apple fix the problem.
Why not?
It's obviously worked for :apple: with their PC vs Mac commercials in terms of their minuscule OS market-share.

Until Adobe can get FLASH working properly on Macs, why the hell would I want it on my damn phone?
On Macs, FLASH causes Safari 4 to crash often, is slow and downright buggy.
Some sites work fine, others crash the browser, often a reboot is required to get a Flash site working after a crash. This is all completely unacceptable in my opinion.
If your teenager crashed one of your cars, why the hell would you immediately give him the keys to another one?
When Adobe fixes FLASH for Macs, then and ONLY THEN should Apple say, hey let's talk about the iPhone now.
Those should be Apple's terms, plain and simple.

Oh come on! :D Heee.... I was thinking the 1080i/p resolution might be a hint of what's to come on the 12th :)
Yeah, it definitely would be a great machine to watch HD movies on from the new iTMS Movie Store. And after that, combined with Leopard's as-yet-unannounced super-secret built-in Media Center technology, the next iMac revision will see 30" displays with built-in TV tuners, HDMI, etc. :D
It's showtime!!!

From the blog:
"We're not picking specifically on Macs here, but if you watch those 'Get a Mac' commercials enough, it eventually makes you want to stab one of those users in the eye with a lit cigarette or something," Maynor said.
With this kind of angst, why wouldn't they use the internal Airport card?

Thats no true.
Apple just a few days ago released Mac OS X 10.6.7 and was only 475MB, and the Combo update was only 1.12GB. Mac OS X 10.6.6 brought the Mac App Store and was only 143MB.
I don't know why your updates are 4GB.

I'm pretty sure he was referring to apps purchased in the Mac AppStore, not the OS itself.

I'm not too sure how 3d screens work, but don't they devote half of the pixels to the right eye, and half to the left? If so, could you turn 3D off and have a double resolution retina display?

MY GOD
I just woke up from a nap and have at least a DOZEN e-mails from PC-owning friends and famailies saying stuff like "What's up with your boys?!?!?!"
I kindly link them to the 4.1 million Dell's being recalled. :D
My girlfriend is having a field-day. Being a Dell fan-girl, I was like nyahhhh your laptop's gonna explode.
Now she's getting her own back (http://www.thehobsite.com/blog/?p=258) :(
